in an interviw that it aims to increase the lead by selling over 200 millon smart phones during 2012
it is estimated that samsung sold over 88 million handsets in the first quarter this year. this number includes both smartphones and feature phones. IDC estimates that samsung shipped 42.2 millio smartphones during first quarter 2012 JK .shin, president of samsung mobile told marketwatch that samsung's goal for 2012 is to gain a 23%-24% in 2011. this is sighnficant increse over the estimate of 150 million smartphones given just five monts ago.
samsung does no longer report how many of its sold handset are frature phones or smartphones, so we do not have an exact number from 2011. samsung will only report growth in present compared to previous quarter. in Q4 2011. smart phones shipment rose 40% compared to Q3 2011, and 300% since Q4 2010 some research firms estimated. that samsung sold 36 million smarphones during Q4 2010.comments from SAMSUNG regarding the 2012 q1 earnings said that the smartphones market in general decreased from quarter to quarter but that samsung did well and the company report about increased shopments across all regions. this was mostly because of great sales figures for the galaxy S 2 the nhe new galaxy S 3 is expected to help samsung continue the sales growth and to rach the 200 million figure.
